Dr. Geiss III has extensive experience in the field. After finishing his Ophthalmology Residency at Cornell University at New York Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, he completed his Cornea & External Disease Fellowship and served as Chief Cornea Fellow at the esteemed University of Michigan’s Kellogg Eye Center, a top-10 eye hospital in the United States. As Chief Cornea Fellow, Dr. Geiss III performed many complex Corneal Transplants & Anterior Segment cases, learned directly from Kellogg’s world-renowned Cornea & Eye Banking experts, and taught residents extensively how to best manage Corneal Diseases. Since, Dr. Geiss III has taken pride in providing high-quality cornea care directly to his hometown CNY community since 1995.
Further, Dr. Geiss III has served since 1996 as a corneal expert for the Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA), the world-leading non-profit organization for Corneal Tissue & Transplantation Preparation, on their Accreditation Board & actively volunteered as Co-Medical Director of Syracuse Eye Banks since. As an active EBAA member, Dr. Geiss routinely inspects Eye Banks in the U.S. & Canada to ensure they adhere to best practices for corneal transplant tissue preparation and selection. In addition, Dr. Geiss serves the CNY Community as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Cornea & External Disease within SUNY Upstate’s Ophthalmology Department.
